In the Amsterdam island district of IJburg, Pieter Weijnen built an energy-neutral home to the standards of Cradle to Cradle.  All materials are recyclable or compostable. The house is also the first building in the Netherlands with two Passive Building quality marks, granted for both the design and the built result.

For FARO, this property was an experimental garden for sustainable building, where thorough preliminary research had been done on material and energy consumption. The experience FARO gained is used in other projects and to encourage sustainable building in society.

The façade is the first one in the Netherlands where the Shou Sugi Ban method was used.
