Music centre La Vapeur opened its doors in Dijon on 7 February 2018. The entire building is cladded on the outside with 1500 m2 Zwarthout (Marugame), while 300 m2 of Tonosho was used for the interior.
More than 22 years after its initial opening, a new building has been created for the music centre in Dijon. The mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen presided over the official opening. The architect of La Vapeur, Marie-José Barthélémy (OPA, Paris), chose to combine parts of the existing building with new buildings and to use materials such as Blackwood, weathering steel, glass and concrete. Functional and modular, yet also welcoming and warm.
